Surfrider Chicago's chair, Mitch McNeil, along with UC Abrams Environmental Law Clinic attorney, Mark Templeton, appeared on WTTW's (Ch11) CHICAGO TONIGHT show Tuesday, Dec 12, to discuss Lake Michigan pollution, and its affect on surfers, plus the proposed legal action against U.S. Steel. The popular local news show devoted 12 minutes to the segment. The discussion covered the salient points of the US Steel pollution discharges (April & October), the fallout of the legal action so far (City of Chicago has filed their own legal action), and the strong possibility that the EPA is already cloistered with the defendant to hammer out a possible agreement.
Surfrider, and their legal team, will continue to push for a seat at the table as the terms of the settlement are hammered out. For WTTW's synopsis of the issue, plus streaming video of the 12 minute segment, go here.
